ABOUT US

Creekside Ministries, Inc. was founded in June 2002 by Pastors Ron and Teri Neal, who moved to  Fishers, Indiana from Michigan.  Creekside Ministries is an outreach ministry whose vision and goal is to bridge the gap between the hearing and deaf communities, and reaching both of these groups of people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Starting in their apartment, Pastors Ron and Terri began small group fellowships to both the hearing and deaf communities of the Indianapolis area.  The ministry has rapidly grown and has relocated within the Fishers area several times due to outgrowth of its rental facilities.  In November of 2004, Creekside officially purchased their then most recent rental facility, 10501 Hague Road, Fishers, Indiana.

The purchase of the Hague Road building was a major step of faith for the fledgling congregation of only 200 people.  The building, a former commercial building, was in complete disrepair and had not been used for many years.  The facility was run-down and in the process of being donated to the local fire department for their training, whereby they would set the building ablaze and allow firefighters to extinguish the fire.  By the grace of God, Creekside came across the building before its total destruction.  The rehabilitation of the building has required extensive volunteer manpower and revenue to renovate the building to code and for the purpose of a House of Worship.

Creekside is a unique ministry, not only locally, but nationally as well... being one of the largest deaf outreaches in the United States.  The blend of hearing and deaf communities has resulted in a ministry where people are willing to step out of their comfort zones and minister to other peoples different than themselves.  Creekside Ministries offers all their programming in both English and American Sign Language (ASL).  A Sunday School program has been developed where both hearing and deaf children are taught with hearing and deaf teachers.  Creekside provides a ministry where “blended” families that have both hearing and deaf member are able to hear the Gospel message of Jesus Christ in their own respective language.  This is a unique environment where families are enriched and educated in the areas of diversity.

To facilitate the breaking of cultural walls between the hearing and deaf communities, Creekside offers a number of free classes to members and non-members whereby the hearing can learn to communicate in ASL.  In addition, all hearing events are interpreted into ASL so that the deaf community can enjoy the benefits normally afforded only the hearing culture.

Creekside offers a number different programs to the community, including performing arts (dance, music, etc.), exercise (general weights and equipment) and recreational skating.  It is our contention that Jesus Christ desires us to make the Gospel very practical—very real.  As beings that are created both spiritually and biologically, it is our belief that God desires us to minister to the whole-man, both spiritually and naturally.  As we preach the message of Christ it is to be practical, something that applies to our life and can be experienced, something that is relevant to our daily struggles in our present time—again something real.  As such, if we only minister to the spiritual man by talking, then we totally miss the fact that God has made us both spiritually and naturally.  A ministry to the full person, requires we meet both their spiritual and natural needs.
